JEIF IF AWHI Defining Us...
Active Girls = Healthy Women
James E. Ireland Foundation(501(c)(3) was established in memory of my Father who died of Colon Cancer in 1992. Established 25 years ago, JEIF supports research, education, speakers and service, and Projects focusing on women/s health, injuries in athletically act women, young and old.
The Active Women's Health Initiative is launched through the UK College of Health Sciences in April 2018. AWHI will focus on physical activity and wellness for women across the lifespan. Integrating research, education, and service to the Commonwealth of Kentucky, we hope to create Healthy Women from Active Girls. I am excited to extend JEIF to include the Ireland Foundation (IF).
Have you ever thought about What IF? I was able to compete in sports as a girl in the 60's and 70's. I am a well respected Orthopedic Surgeon in a male dominated specialty .... What If I never swam, played field hockey and basketball, climbed trees and ran? What IF?
The Ireland Foundation(IF) is now established under the James E. Ireland Foundation 501(c)(3) to honor my Mother, Sister, and Me. No Males to carry on the Ireland Name, but Strong Women who are active, healthy, volunteer, serve, and care about family, friends, and community.
My Mother died at age 90 in 2010. She was the first Volunteer Coordinator at the University of Kentucky Medical Center from 1964 until 1984. Her spirit and love instilled in those who knew her give us the insight and passion to do the right thing and believe in ourselves.
I often think What If? and know how blessed I am to have had my parents and family. Honoring the Ireland Memory to support AWHI is the goal of this campaign. A lead gift to AWHI from JEIF Ireland Foundation of $100,000 has been pledged.
Please put the The Ireland Foundation-Active Women's Health Initiative in the memo line of your check. I look forward to an exciting relationship with the College of Health Sciences to promote healthy lifestyle for girls and women. Please give.
